Jakarta Thoroughfare Closed for Demolition of JPO and BI Bus Stop

The main thoroughfare in the capital city had to be closed and diverted for the smooth demolition of the pedestrian bridge (JPO) and BI Bus Stop on the east side of Jalan MH Thamrin that has been ongoing since today and will end on September 19.

Its demolition is started at 11 PM to 4 AM.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo said, to support the project, traffic diversion was implemented according to the stages of work.

Two Temporary Bus Stops will Be Built in BI Area

He detailed, stage I was demolition of the west side ramp/ladder and reduction of lanes on the west side of Jalan MH Thamrinon September 4-9.

"Of the five regular lanes plus one Transjakarta lane will become two regular lanes and one Transjakarta lane," he told, Friday (9/4).

Stage II was demolition of the middle side ramp/ladder and there was a reduction in the lane of Jalan MH Thamrin on the west side on September 10-14.

"From five regular lanes plus one Transjakarta lane, there will be three regular lanes," he expressed.

Stage III was demolition of east side ramp/ladder on September 10-17. There was a reduction in the lane of Jalan MH Thamrin on the east side, from five regular lanes plus one Transjakarta lane will be two regular lanes and one Transjakarta lane.

Stage IV was demolition of the girder on the west side on September 18. There would be a closure on Jalan MH Thamrin on the west side and traffic flow from South/Senayan to North or Harmoni was diverted via Jalan MH Thamrin - Jalan Kebon Sirih - Jalan Fakhrudin - Jalan Abdul Muis - so forth.

Stage V was demolition of the girder on the east side. In line with that, Jalan MH Thamrin on the east side had to be closed.

Traffic from south or Senayan towards north or Harmoni was diverted to Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat - Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan - Jalan Agus Salim - Jalan Kebon Sirih - Jalan MH Thamrin - so forth.

While the Transjakarta Corridor I passengers who often used the JPO towards the BI Bus Stop should across the zebra crossing at the intersection of Jalan MH Thamrin - Jalan Kebon Sirih by adjusting the traffic lights.
